Heavy Duty CNC Cylindrical Grinding machine Model h-Grind 360×2500

Introduction

Micromatic Grinding Technologies Ltd. (MGT) has introduced a heavy-duty CNC cylindrical grinding machine – Model h-Grind 360x2500, designed for heavy-duty applications such as earthmoving equipment, heavy vehicles, military vehicles, rolling mills, etc. The machine comes with certain special features to enhance productivity and efficiency without any hassle. The special features include – high material removal rate, equipped with Servo Steady Rests, heavy-duty machine, and more.

Challenges:

  • Material removal on diameter was 2 mm on the entire length
  • Both end profiles had radius R100 by straight wheel
  • To reduce cycle time up to 30% in comparison to existing imported machine
  • High L/D ratio of component (approx. 49)
 

Achievements:

  • The challenges were overcome and desired results were achieved with a special process and by optimum positioning of Servo Steady Rests
  • The achieved cycle time was 90 minutes against 135 minutes. (a)High material removal through high traverse feed up to 6000 mm per minute with 30-micron depth of cut per pass (b) The wheel was dressed to a special profile to achieve higher MRR
